Mize is 8.35 miles from Taylorsville where most of the industry in the county is located. Mize is about 14 miles from Raleigh, the county seat of Smith County.
Mize is located about 60 miles from Jackson, the capitol of MS, and less than that from the Jackson International Airport. Mize has a railroad and is situated on two state highways, 28 and 35.
